IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Region 6 Retiree Conference/meeting previously scheduled for September 5-6, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach is being moved due to labor dispute between UNITE/HERE hotel workers union and L.A. County Union Hotels.  

We have notified the hotel about our UNITE/HERE solidarity action.

In advice and concurrence with members of our Region 6 Retiree Council, the meeting will now be held at our Pico Rivera Offices: 6500 S. Rosemead Blvd. Pico Rivera Ca. 90660.

Agenda will stay the same and overnight accommodations for out of town attendees can be made at the Embassy Suites in Downey Ca:  8425 Firestone Boulevard, Downey, CA 90241 · (562) 861-1900.  No special rates apply.

A block of rooms under “UAW Event” for the night of 9/5/23 have been reserved, you may call 800-233-1234 on Wednesday 8/16/23 to reserve your room. 

A meeting for Region 6 Retiree Council Board members and International Area Council Chairs is scheduled on Tuesday September 5, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. 

Region 6 Council members and out of town Area Council Chairs should make reservations to arrive on Tuesday September 5th and depart on Wednesday September 6th after 5:00 p.m. 

  • Registration will take place on Wednesday September 6, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 
  • Breakfast will be served from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 
  • Program will open on time at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. 
  • Lunch will be served from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

The meeting is being called to update and share information with Region 6 Retirees on current activities and plans UAW Region 6 and UAW International Union are actively involved in and leading. The meeting is also to recognize the commitment UAW Region 6 Retirees make by continuing to contribute time and resources since UAW Region 6 was founded in 1937. Recognition and gratitude are well deserved to all Region 6 Retirees who helped set the foundation to an ongoing movement that is resurging to service and organize a diverse membership inspired and determined to preserve the UAW as the strong Union our Retirees helped create. We encourage all Retiree leadership to attend this meeting and take back all the information you will be given as we get ready to take collective action not just during our ongoing Big 3 negotiations but also on the coming 2024 local, state, and federal elections. 

Expenses including lost time and travel for Local active leadership attending will be the responsibility of the Local Union. Expenses for Region 6 Retiree Council members attending will be covered by UAW Region 6 Retiree funds including lodging and travel, all other expenses incurred by at large retiree chapters leadership attending the meeting will be the responsibility of the local retiree chapters.
